A long time ago a friend of mine was trying to come up with a name for his band. I fiddled with various word combinations, finally narrowing it down to Ashtray Works, and then Ashworks. For a more European look, I switched out the "o" for an "e" leading to the final name, Ashwerks. When I got back to him with my idea, he already had a name he wanted to use, so I registered it as a website -- a virtual place to show my designs. This was back in 1996.
